Anyone who has been on tour or exercise in the Middle East, central Asia or Africa will tell you that with the arid landscape comes a whole host of unique challenges. The hot, dry days are undoubtedly the first obstacle that springs to mind, but walking in the desert is a little like wading through mud in so far as the ground moves beneath your feet and the last thing you want to do is lose your balance. Boots that have served you well in Germany, Salisbury Plain, Otterburn, Dartmoor or the jungles of Belize will be ill-suited for life in the desert, which is why the importance of a dedicated military desert boot cannot be stressed enough.
