How Do LOWA Insoles Work?
LOWA insoles are specifically designed with a balance footbed and a breathable top layer with slow reacting foam providing fit customisation. LOWA insoles aid the transportation of moisture away from the foot. The LOWA insole range minimises friction and reduces fatigue in conjunction with LOWA's own patented climate control system.
There are other brands of insole and replacement footbeds also available and we have on our website some of the Superfeet range. I wore them in conjunction with my Lowa boots during my military career. The modern military has a wider range of boots for different tasks, weather and countries and replacing insoles can only enhance the ability of the individual.
The three main components to Superfeet insoles:
- Structured heel cup: Encapsulates and positions the soft tissue under the heel, maximising natural shock absorption.
- Rearfoot support: The support you feel towards the back of your arch and the front of your heel is the distinct Superfeet Insole shape, stabilizing the rear foot.

What Season Will You Be Wearing Your LOWA Insoles In?
Winter - If you are more than likely going to wear your LOWA boots throughout colder winter months, the LOWA Insulate Pro Winter Footbed will be best suited for you. The LOWA Insulate Pro Winter Footbed insoles have been specifically designed for use in the cold, wet winter months. The insoles are thermal yet practical, with them being washable - ensuring that they are always fresh and stay as good as new!
Summer - If you will need to wear your military boots throughout the summer months, we would suggest opting for the LOWA Summer Footbed. These LOWA summer footbeds are specifically designed for desert boots and also jungle environments, these phenomenal insoles allow the feet to breathe whilst you are exercising with its breathable top layer. The footbeds also dry in quick time, to ensure that there is no excess moisture.
Spring / Autumn - We all know that the British weather often cannot make its mind up, and we can often feel the full four seasons in one day. The LOWA Trekking Footbed works perfectly in this instance. The LOWA trekking footbed uses its climate control system to suit your surroundings, whilst also providing your feet support.
What Activities Will You be Carrying Out?
Hiking or mountain trekking - We understand that you will be covering many miles in your LOWA military boots, many of these miles may be whilst hiking or mountain trekkings. That is why we have created the LOWA Trekking/Mountain Footbed. This replaced the old Lowa climate control footbed. This new footbed is excellent at minimising fatigue in the feet, whilst also minimising friction - so that your feet have the perfect foundation to complete your hike, walk, trek, yomp, tab or ruck. The trekking/mountain boots are also washable up to 30 degrees to keep them fresh and clean.
